Great for a couple where one can run the marathon
while the other one can EITHER run the Inca Trail Running
Adventure with the additional night in Phuyupatamarca camp,
OR hike the last portion of the Inca Trail and enter Machu
Picchu through the Intipunko Sun Gate - the same entrance
the runners take, OR take the train all the way to Machu
Picchu.
Option 1: Run the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 27.5 mile Marathon August
Option 2: Run the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu Running Adventure - Start the trail a day earlier and arrive in Machu Picchu the same day as the marathon runners.
Option 3: No camping, some hiking. Stay at a hotel in the Sacred Valley. Take the train to Km 104, then hike 7 miles to Machu Picchu and arrive the same day as the marathon runners. See the description of the hike from Km 104 to Machu Picchu below*
Option 4: No camping, no hiking. Stay at a hotel in the Sacred Valley. Take the train all the way to Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu and arrive the same day as the marathon runners.
Option 5: The Chasqui Challenge is a fabulous high mountain adventure that includes the Inca Trail Marathon and the Circuit around Mount Ausangate. Stay longer -- only $400 (special in 2010) for an additional 5 days! Includes an additional night in Cusco.
Option 6: The Peruvian Andes Running Adventure is a fabulous high mountain adventure that includes the Inca Trail Running Adventure and the Circuit around Mount Ausangate. Stay longer -- only $400 (special in 2010) for an additional 5 days! Includes an additional night in Cusco.
Note: The runners that select the Inca Trail marathon and the
runners that select to run the Inca Trail Running Adventure
will arrive the same day in Machu Picchu, but each group
will have different Inca Trail permits. Runners doing the
trail in 2 days will have an additional camp in Phuyupatamarca.
Let us know your choice before the Inca Trail permits
are issued in January, so that permits are issued correctly.
